Ismael Ferrer

ist ein spanischer Comiczeichner, Illustrator und Filmemacher; geboren 1971 in Sabadell (?)(1). Er studierte an der Universität in Barcelona.

In den Jahren 1993 bis 1997 war Ferrer als Autor und Zeichner innerhalb der Künstlergruppe (colectivo) La Penya für das Fanzine Mondo Lirondo tätig, das 1994 sogar einen Preis als bestens Fanzine erhielt.

Ferrer interessierte sich sehr für die japanischen Manga und versuchte diesen Stil in seinen eigenen Zeichenstrich zu integrieren. Bereits in frühen Arbeiten wie "eli i la iaia Makuto" sind die fernöstlichen Anleihen zu erkennen.

Mit der Zeichnerin Núria Peris entstand 1997 für Editorial Formentera S.A. das 24-seitige Heft „Las Adventuras de Clitorina“.

Er zeichnete unter anderem die Erotik-Serien Yoko und Katy, sowie den Mangastrip "Puchún" für das Magazin Neko und inhaltlich im Gegensatz dazu Kindergeschichten für die Zeitschrift Tretzevents (2001-2010).

Ab Ende der 1990er Jahre (1998 bis 2010) entstanden etliche erotische Arbeiten; wie die Kurzgeschichten und -Serien „Record Woman“, Kati Polves Mágicos und „La Vigilante de la Playa“; vornehmlich für das spanische Penthouse Comix Magazin - für das er zudem einige Titelbilder zeichnete.

Im Laufe seiner Arbeit für Penthouse Comix wurde sein Stil sichtbar gehaltvoller, detailreicher und reifer. Diese Entwicklung kam auch den Kurzserie "Erika Telekinetika" zugute.

Die zu "Kati“ verwandte Serie Erika Telekinetika wurde in den USA bei Last Gasp (Eros Comix) veröffentlicht und statt Magie wird von der Titelheldin Telepathie und Telekinese genutzt, um erotische Abenteuer zu erleben.

Seine Comicgeschichten sind überwiegend heiter und mit viel Humor ausgestattet.
„Ich denke, dass der Gag, der Witz oder die Komödie ein gutes Werkzeug sind, um das Publikum zu erreichen. Wenn man ein Lachen oder ein Lächeln bekommt, hat man den Zuschauer schnell in die Tasche…“

Seit 2007 arbeitet er vornehmlich als Illustrator (meist mit dem Computer) und ist Produzent bei der Produktionsfirma Bamf.

„Ich habe gut zehn Jahre Comic gezeichnet und fühlte mich am Ende ausgepumpt. Das bewegte Bild gibt mir im Moment viel mehr Befriedigung. Das einzige Problem dabei: man kann seine Kunst nicht allein erstellen. Andere Künstler einzubeziehen ist nicht immer einfach. Da muss Überzeugungsarbeit geleistet werden, dem Team vertrauen und hoffen, das man sie mit den eigenen Ideen inspiriert“.

Ferrer erhielt beim Alicante Film Festival (Festival de Cine de Alicante) die Auszeichnung "Mención Especial" für den Kurzfilm "Foto“. YouTube-Link

Mit der Autorin Barbara Slade entwickelte Ferrer zusammen mit Bamf Productions und Motion Pictures die Kinderserie "Lula Hoop".

In den 2000er Jahren und darüber hinaus arbeitete Ferrer auch bei diversen Filmprojekten mit. Für Desaliñada (Kurzfilm, 2001), Dagon (2001), Hable con ella (2002), El orfanato (2007) und Mil cretins (2011) übernahm er einige Special Effekte; assistierte zudem Joe Nazzaro beim Make-up des jungen Hellboy in Hellboy 2. In den Filmen Cortometrague (2002) und Los Totenwackers (2007) war er als Schauspieler tätig (2).

Weitere Projekte waren Barcelona 27 (1994), Domir, Sagrar, Morir (1994), Gear School - Plug & Play (2010) (zusammen mit Luis Calvo Llàcer) und Nick (Outlier, 2016).

Die erotischen Comic-Arbeiten von Ismael Ferrer sind was sie sind. Sie waren gut verdientes Geld in den Anfangsjahren seiner Karriere. Und der spanische Penthouse Comix Ableger immer auf der Suche nach einheimischen Künstlern. Doch inhaltlich war vieles Mittelmaß. Erst im Laufe der Entwicklung des Magazins selbst, wurden auch die Arbeiten von Ferrer anspruchsvoller und reifer. Die Geschichten, wie die Abenteuer von Kati oder Erika, sind kurzweilig, mäßig witzig, durchaus auch sexy, lassen aber den gewissen erotischen Funken vermissen.

Eine "richtige Verbindung" mit den Heldinnen kann in den seichten Kurzgeschichten-Comics kaum aufgebaut werden.

Sein mangaesker Stil hat sich in den 2000er Jahren qualitativ gut entwickelt, jedoch den europäischen/spanischen Touch behalten.

Ismael Ferrer

is a Spanish comic artist, illustrator and filmmaker; born 1971 in Sabadell (?)(1). He studied at the University of Barcelona.

From 1993 to 1997, Ferrer worked as an author and draughtsman within the La Penya group of artists (colectivo) for the Mondo Lirondo fanzine, which received a prize as the best fanzine in 1994.

Ferrer was very interested in Japanese manga and tried to integrate this style into his own drawings. Already in early works like "eli i la iaia Makuto" the Far Eastern borrowings can be recognized.

The 24-page booklet "Las Adventuras de Clitorina" was created with the comic-artist and illustrator Núria Peris (www.nuriaperis.com), for Editorial Formentera S.A. in 1997.

He drew amongst others the erotic series Yoko and Katy, as well as the manga strip "Puchún" for the magazine Neko and, in contrast, children's stories for the magazine Tretzevents (2001-2010).

At the end of the 1990s (1998 to 2010) he created several erotic works, such as the short-stories and -series "Record Woman", Kati Polves Mágicos and "La Vigilante de la Playa"; mainly for the Spanish Penthouse Comix magazine - for which he also drew some covers.

In the course of his work for Penthouse Comix, his style became visibly richer, more detailed and more mature. This development also benefited the publications of "Erika Telekinetika".

The series Erika Telekinetika, related to "Kati", was published in the USA by Last Gasp (Eros Comix) and instead of magic the title heroine uses telepathy and telekinesis to experience erotic adventures.

His comic stories are predominantly cheerful and endowed with a lot of humor.
"I think that the gag, the joke or the comedy is a good tool to reach the audience. If you get a laugh or a smile you quickly put the viewer in your pocket..."

Since 2007 he works mainly as an illustrator (mostly with the computer) and is a producer at the production company Bamf.

"I've been drawing comics for ten years and felt pumped out at the end. The moving image gives me much more satisfaction at the moment. The only problem is that you can't create your art on your own. Involving other artists isn't always easy. You have to convince them, trust the team and hope to inspire them with your own ideas.“

The erotic comic works of Ismael Ferrer are what they are. They were well earned money in the early years of his career. And the Spanish Penthouse Comix magazin was always looking for native artists. But the content was much mediocre. Only in the course of the development of the magazine itself did Ferrer's work become more demanding and mature. The stories, for example the adventures of Kati or Erika, are entertaining, moderately funny, even sexy, but lack a certain "erotic-orgasmic spark".

A "real connection" with the heroines can hardly be established in the shallow short story comics.

His mangaesque style developed qualitatively well in the 2000s, but keep his European/Spanish touch.
